From Me to You

“Whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith."
(1 John 5:4)

I had no idea this verse would come to mean what it does for me today:  an expression of what the Lord has done in bringing our first grandchild—named Faith—into the world!

Birth is an overcoming process:  Faith had to overcome several complications her Mom experienced during pregnancy to be born safely, healthy and whole.  Prayers were offered and wonderfully answered so that even though labor had to be induced, her birth was still clearly “of God”-- God’s will, timing, plan and power!

Birth is a victory too:  the triumph of a mother, our daughter-in-law Candace, who endured the changes and challenges of pregnancy, seeking the Lord in choices that meant giving up her own comfort and preferences for the welfare of the life within her, and persevering through a labor and delivery process that wasn’t quite the time and way expected to bring Faith into our family—quite an exercise of faith!

Of course, the same things are true in terms of our spiritual rebirth, as the Holy Spirit through John points out:
We are born again by the will and work of God, who moves us in love to put our faith in Jesus our Savior and Lord of all—we are saved “by grace through faith” the Bible says (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Praying to receive Jesus, we become God’s children, His family, in Jesus (John 1:12-13).
Because Jesus died for all our sins, we are forgiven, and given a whole new love-life with God (Colossians 2:13-14)
Jesus rose again and beat sin, death, worldliness and the devil:  His victory is ours, so we are “more than conquerors through Him who loves us”  (Romans 8:37).
So now we get to live with and for Jesus as His disciples:  grow-up in Him in every way, (Ephesians 4:15, 1 Peter 2:2, 2 Peter 3:18).

Best of all, just like a proud parent ( or GRAND-parent) gets to show-off the new arrival to others, so Jesus gets to show Himself through us:  we are His and here to let the world see and come to know Him through our lives!

Faith:  your Gran-pa-pa is so delighted you are finally here, safe, healthy and whole!  And I can’t wait for you to get to know Jesus too!  That’s what God wants for all His children, everywhere!

Grateful to be a part of Jesus’ family, and to see the Lord bringing many more children of all ages and stages, everywhere, to FAITH in Christ—the miracles of birth and rebirth--with and through you, His family at and as PPC!
In Christ,

Food Distribution Center

I cannot believe what God has done at the Food Distribution while I was in Trinidad.  People are on fire for Jesus’ love, and are asking more and more for prayer and direction.  Yes the families are being fed and they want to be fed, spiritually and physically.  They all go to Larry Oline and the prayer team for their bi–monthly dose of Jesus’ Love.  We also had praise reports from some of our families.  God is good all the time.  How about these PRAISE
REPORTS!  One person said he was getting married, not living in sin.  Another is going and doing volunteering at
Mirror Lake for the handicapped persons to get help. Another said she had a renewed faith with Jesus because
Jesus healed her. Barb Hendry gave her a devotional.  I saw lots and lots of similes.
P.P.C.F.D. served 198 households, 481 individuals, and gave out 6,813 pounds of food for the Month of July 2013.
If you want to receive a blessing come and serve.   And shortly after that you will see what God will do in your life.  We serve the second and fourth Saturday of each month 9:30 AM to 2 PM. at 123 Pasadena Way, next to the Boy Scout house.  If you can't serve, we always need prayer for the bread and the fish to multiply and at last financial support.
**I almost forgot this past Saturday, August 10th we had to make up more bags, because we had so many new people.  I could only stay till 1:30 and we served over 100 families. All the praise goes to you Father, Thank you for blessing us with this ministry.

circles using this study but we would encourage other women to join the ongoing circles or start a group of your own at a time more convenient.

Committee Meeting – Tuesday, September 3rd at 10:00 the Boswell Room.

Rachel Circle – Monday, September 2nd at 6:00 p.m. at the home of Pat Watts

Esther Circle – Tuesday, September 10th at 1:00 p.m. at the home of Pat Edgington

Ruth Circle – Tuesday, September 10th at 1:00 p.m. at the home of Aristeia Sowa

Study books “Exploring the Depths of God’s Love” by Dr. Charles Stanley are available in the church office.  These have been provided by the Women of the Church for your use.  Please let Terry Odom or Pat Watts know if you are interested in starting your own group.  Otherwise, please join one of the other circles and call the hostess if you can come. We’d love to share God’s love with you all!

Please take note of the new Chapel doors!  These were made available from the Ruby Bortz memorial bequest which the women received several years ago.  Thank you Bill Wyess for finishing them!

Any suggestions for programs or mission projects, please contact one of the committee members:  Ann Carney, Vicki Danz, Pat Drucker, Pat Edgington, Becky McLaughlin, Terry Odom, Alma Oline, Felicia Ragland, Aristeia Sowa or Pat Watts.

Library News

This month's column will deal primarily with women, so guys, we'll try to give you equal time later. (But, you may want to read these too, to see why we are what we are!) Our library has a number of books which deal with a woman's relationship to God and other people from a godly point of view. There are at least 30 worthwhile books with either "woman's" or "women" in their title. Add "girls" for books addressing youth and the number jumps. Then, add those that have none of those words in the title but are in this category and you get an even bigger selection. Here is a sampling:

Books on the Christian Life: Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul, John and Stasi Eldridge; My Sacrifice His Fire: Weekday Reading for Women, Anne Ortlund; Lies Women Believe and the Truth That Sets Them Free, Nancy Leigh DeMoss; When the Fairy Dust Settles: A Woman and her Mother Discuss What Really Matters, Janet Parshall and Sarah Parshall Perry.

Women in the Bible: All of the Women of the Bible, Edith Deen; a series, including Really Bad Girls of the Bible: More Lessons from Less-Than-Perfect Women, Liz Curtiss Higgs.

Christian Women in History: Great Women in Christian History: 37 Women Who Changed Their World; Women of Faith: Gladys Aylward.

Life as a Woman:  Women Leaving the Workplace: How to Make the Transition from Work to Home, Larry Burkett; Survival for Busy Women: Establishing Efficient Home Management, Emilie Barnes; Bonkers: Why Women Get Stressed Out and What They Can Do About It, Dr. Kevin Leman.
